ABOUT THE PROJECT

:: Persian Gazelle is the first solar vehicle in Iran and Middle-East. Designer team are students and professors of Mechanical Engineering faculty of University of Tehran. Designing and manufacturing of the car is performed by the newest science and the most powerful engineering softwares in the world. The project has been started from 2004 autumn and it is finished now. Designing and manufacturing such a car is generally similar to a real car, even more complicated in some cases.

Persian gazelle is a single driver car with 5m length, 1.8m width and 1m height from the road, and is designed to move at the speed of 100km/h and more. The car has a single rear wheel which is the driver, and two front wheels. Top surface of the car is covered by 8.5 m^2 high efficiency solar cells. Solar radiation is absorbed by the cells and is stored in rechargeable Li-Ion batteries inside the car. This energy rotates an in-wheel motor mounted on the rear wheel. The chassis and the body are made from the materials with high strength and low weight.
